What is Capneteq?

Capneteq is a free directory service that helps you discover scientific equipment at research facilities across the country. We connect you with 19,000+ facilities and 1,600+ instruments at universities, national labs, and research institutes.

Is Capneteq free to use?

Yes! Capneteq is completely free to download and use. There are no subscription fees or in-app purchases. Our goal is to make scientific equipment more accessible to everyone.

Does Capneteq handle bookings or payments?

No. Capneteq is a directory service only. We provide information about facilities and equipment, but we do not process bookings, payments, or act as an intermediary. You arrange everything directly with the facility.

How do I find specific equipment?

Use the search bar on the Home screen to search by location, keyword, or equipment type. You can also browse by category in the Equipment tab, use the map to find nearby facilities, and apply filters for more specific results.

How do I contact a facility about equipment?

When you view equipment details, you'll see the facility's contact information. Reach out directly to them to inquire about availability, pricing, and booking. Capneteq provides the directory—all arrangements are made directly between you and the facility.

How do I save equipment I'm interested in?

Create a free account to save and organize equipment you're interested in. Tap the heart icon on any equipment card to add it to your favorites, which you can access anytime from your profile.

How do I create an account?

Tap "Sign In to Your Account" on the home screen, then tap "Create New Account." You'll need to provide your name and email address. An account lets you save favorites and manage your searches.

Can I use the app without location services?

Absolutely! Location services are optional. Without them, you won't see distance-based results or "near me" features, but you can still search by city, state, or browse all facilities.

Is my location data tracked?

Only with your permission, and only when you're searching. We use your approximate location to show you nearby facilities. You can enable or disable this in your device settings at any time. We do not track your location in the background.

Where does the equipment information come from?

We collect and aggregate equipment information from publicly available sources like university websites and published directories. While we strive for accuracy, we recommend verifying details directly with the facility.

What types of equipment can I find?

Our database includes a wide range of scientific equipment:
