CytoFLEX Flow Cytometer

The Cytoflex LX has 6 lasers, Blue, Red, Yellow/Green, Violet UV, and IR. It is capable of detecting 21 colors and has a 96 well plate loader so it can aspirate the samples from 5 ml FACS tubes, 1.7ml Eppendorf tubes, or cell culture plates. It has exquisite sensitivity and is theoretically capable of nano-particle analysis down to 80 nm; however, this requires several days of cleaning the system, so currently it is limited to analyzing cells and bacteria – it is the best instrument we have to phenotype bacterial species. This platform has repositionable bandpass filters and Avalanche Photodiode Detectors instead of PMTs for increased sensitivity.
