Mass Spectrometer - Thermo Scientific Exploris 120 LC-MS system
The Thermo Orbitrap Exploris 120 is a high-resolution mass spectrometer that operates over a mass range of m/z 40 - 3,000 and is coupled to a Vanquish Core UHPLC system to perform LC-MS analysis. The UHPLC has a dedicated diode array detector (DAD): An 8 channel, sing beam, UV-VIS (190-800 nm) detector with 3D detection, sampled at up to 125 Hz. The Mass spectrometer, using an orbitrap analyzer, is capable of up to 120,000 FWHM mass resolving power (at m/z 200), a < 1 ppm mass error, and offers sensitivities on the order of femtograms. The orbitrap detector also allows for a large dynamic range of up to >5,000, with the instrument electronics capable of high scan rates and polarity switching. In addition, the instrument is capable of different MS/MS experiments in order to elucidate molecular structures of small molecules. Both heated electrospray and nanospray flex ion sources are available for the Exploris 120 mass spectrometer, offering a wide range of flow rates (mL to µL) for sample introduction. The Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Exploris 120 electrospray ionization mass spectrometer with Vanquish Core ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography system (UPLC ESI-MS) is managed by the University Instrumentation Center (UIC) and was purchased with funds awarded to the University of New Hampshire (UNH) by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (Award # 1026942).
