The NIKON A1R - HD Confocal microscope offers features for analyzing fluorescently labeled samples of various thickness and for creating 3D reconstructions. The NIKON A1R - HD Confocal microscope is used for analyzing fluorescently-labeled or autofluorescing samples of various thicknesses, including automatically optically sectioning relatively thick specimens to create 3D reconstructions or 2D projections. Unlike conventional fluorescence microscopes, it produces images using only fluoresced light emitted at the focal plane (that is, in-focus fluorescence). Out-of-focus fluorescence emitted from above and below the focal plane is discarded. This microscope, therefore, can be used not only with relatively thin specimens, but with specimens that would typically be too thick (≥ 25 μm) to yield sharp images on conventional fluorescence microscopes. Capabilities

  • LUNV laser launch with 405nm, 445nm, 488nm, 514nm, 561nm, 633nm solid state diode lasers (all 20mW output at the fiber tip)
  • Hybrid resonant and Galvano scan head for simultaneous photoactivation and image acquisition
  • The Perfect Focus System 4 corrects for focus drift, facilitating long-term observations
  • Ti2 Inverted Microscope with 25mm FOV
  • Motorized encoded XY stage, Piezo Z-axis drive
  • 10x, 20x, 40x-oil and 60x-oil objectives
  • Five detectors: two GaAsP and two multi-alkali PMTs, and spectral detector
  • Color CMOS camera allows color non-confocal images to be collected (e.g. histological slides).   Extended-depth-focus (EDF) software allows for in-focus color imaging of thicker samples.
  • Stage inserts available to accommodate multiwell plates and four standard slides at a time
