The Kratos Axis Ultra is a multi-analytical technique that allows quantitative analysis and imaging of elemental components and their oxidation states. The sampling depth depends on sample makeup but is typically not more than 10 nm. Additional capabilities include Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES), Scanning Auger Microscopy (SAM), Low Energy Ion Scattering Spectroscopy (LEIS/ISS), Ultraviolet Photoelectron Spectroscopy (UPS) The system has been acquired through generous funding from an NSF Chemistry Research Instrumentation grant (CHE-0443657) and matching funds from the University of Utah Office of the Vice-president for Research.
