Central to the analyses of stem cell characteristics (stem cell proliferation and differentiation) in intact tissues is the ability to perform dissections of small animals followed by the visualization of transgene expression in adult stem cells. This equipment enables convenient dissection and examination of GFP-expressing stem cells in intact organs under fluorescence, allowing genetic screenings of novel genes that might regulate regenerative capacity of somatic stem cells.
